Set Windows 8 Privacy Settings

Windows 8 more than any other previous version of Windows wants to use some of your Private data to improve its user facing services – this is mostly born out of its new roots as a mobile operating system, and needing access to things like your current location as well as device usage stats.

If the thought of Microsoft, or anyone else, having access to this data is a worry to you then it’s quite simple to tweak those settings to something you’re more happy with.

  • Press the Windows + I key.
  • Next select ‘Change PC Settings‘ at the bottom and then the ‘Privacy‘ option.
  • On the right there are some options you can use to tweak the settings.
