Remove The Internet Explorer Search Box

One of the features added to the latest versions of Internet Explorer is the search box at the top right hand side of the toolbars. Whilst many people like the convenience of having a quick search facility, many others would rather it wasn’t there.

Fortunately removing the toolbar is relatively easy.

  • Click the Windows button, type in gpedit.msc and press Enter.
  • Navigate through the following structure:
User Configuration –> Administrative Templates –> Windows Components –> Internet Explorer.
  • Now scroll down until you see the option labelled Prevent the Internet Explorer search box from displaying.
  • Double click on the option and set it to Enabled
