Playing DVDs In Windows Media Player

Windows media player can quite hapilly play almost any DVD you care to throw at it, however, it does need a little ‘tweaking’ to make this happen.

In order for DVD’s to play on a PC, a ‘CODEC’ must first be installed to allow the DVD signals to be interpreted by Windows Media Player. Many new drives come supplied with a CD or DVD that has drivers and CODECs that will allow full functionality of the drive to be achieved, so if you have such a disk you should find what you want on there.

If you don’t have such a CODEC to hand then there is a free option available in a program called VLC that can be downloaded from www.videolan.org/vlc.
